Scent marketing for hotels

Scent marketing for hotels is the latest global trend. It is the answer for the hotel industry in its quest for innovation. Offering scent experiences has become a differentiating element that travellers value highly and it enhances the customer experience. Scent marketing allows your hotel to not only strengthen its brand identity, but also to increase sales and improve the customer experience. But what is scent marketing for hotels? And what are the pros and cons? Read on to find out all about scent marketing for hotels.

What is scent marketing for hotels?

Imagine a guest entering your hotel lobby and immediately sensing a scent that triggers a mechanism in his or her brain. At that moment the subconscious registers the smell as a very powerful and memorable memory.

In milliseconds, you turn the image of your hotel into a powerful memory, creating an even more lasting connection with the hotel brand. Strengthen the marketing concept of the hotel brand by bringing aroma-client-brand together.

Studies show that a person remembers 35% of what they smell. Because smell and memory are connected to the brain, people are able to remember smells and aromas for years. Therefore, this sense is fundamental to any marketing strategy.

Some studies show that memories triggered by smells can be stronger than those by images or sounds. Based on this principle, scent marketing for hotels is a stimulation technique that uses the sense of smell to convey lasting sensations to consumers.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of scent marketing for hotels?

A key benefit of this marketing technique is that it transcends the boundaries of distance. That is, no matter how far away your customer is from the hotel, he will vividly remember the experience sown by the brand. This strengthens the bond that has been created. We call this phenomenon the butterfly effect. No wonder hundreds of luxury hotels are already harnessing its power.

Other benefits of scent marketing for hotels include:

  • Creates a positive first impression with travellers and influences their entire experience
  • Relates to guests’ holidays, creating memorable memories
  • Can stimulate the consumption behaviour of the guests, especially in the hotel room, in the restaurant and in the wellness areas
  • Influences the satisfaction of travellers, especially in the area of housekeeping services

A disadvantage is that – like all forms of marketing – it requires investment and planning. You may want to use scent marketing only in common areas with the same scent that identifies your hotel. On the other hand, you might consider using distinctive scent marketing in different parts of the hotel. For example, one scent for the rooms, another for the lobby, another for the restaurant, etc. Of course, the costs and planning required will vary. But in both cases the results are worth it.

Which fragrance diffusers are suitable for a hotel?

When choosing an odour diffuser for your hotel, it is important to take into account, firstly, the size of the premises. And secondly, the capabilities and power it offers. At Extreme Air Products we have two professional fragrance diffusers that are ideal for scent marketing: the Scent Experience and the Smartscent.

Our Scent Experience diffuser is ideal for large spaces such as the lobby and restaurant/bar. This professional fragrance diffuser is designed to influence the perception of scent in spaces between 100 and 800 m2. Moreover, the possibilities of this product are almost unlimited. Different fragrances have different effects. So choose the fragrance that is most suitable for the location. When choosing a fragrance diffuser, it is important that you take into account that it is easy to use. After all, many employees in the hotel will have to work with it, so it is essential that it is easy to use. Then the Scent Experience is exactly what you need. It is easy to use and can be adjusted very accurately. You can also determine exactly how strong the system is and what times and days it is active.

Scent Experience

For smaller spaces, on the other hand, we recommend our Smartscent scent diffuser. This can be the perfect scent diffuser for spaces such as bedrooms and meeting rooms. It is also ideal for wellness facilities such as massage practices, group practices, yoga studios, etc. With the Smartscent you can easily create the desired fragrance experience in rooms of 60-80 m2. It consists of a cold mist technology. The aromas based on essential oils are gently introduced into the room. The desired intensity can be adjusted with a slider.

Scent marketing for hotels also requires a scent neutraliser

One should not forget that the goal of scent marketing for hotels is to create an unforgettable experience. In addition to increasing customer satisfaction with their stay. While the perception of pleasant odours is fundamental to improving the guest experience, neutralising bad odours is equally, if not more, important! We have all experienced how a bad smell can sour our stay, making us forget all the good things the hotel has to offer.

A scent cannot mask an unpleasant smell, it can even make it worse. Therefore, in these cases it is essential to have an odour neutraliser. At Extreme Air Products we recommend our odour Neutraliser. Thanks to its patented neutralising cartridges, it can eliminate even the worst odours. It is ideal for restaurants (e.g. preparing fish), for the hotel gym or fitness room, as well as for communal bathrooms, laundry or smoking areas.

6 scent marketing tips for hotels

Good use of scent diffusers can make the difference between the competition and your hotel. It is not surprising that most 5 star hotels already use this effective technique. Here are some tips on how to make the most of scent marketing in your hotel:

  1. Plan a good strategy. Will you use it only in common areas or will you use it in all rooms?
  2. Not all fragrances are suitable. Different situations need different scents. Think about what feeling you want to convey in the different rooms, and choose an appropriate fragrance.
  3. Use scent marketing. This is to offer a plus to your services. For example, use the smell of jasmine in meeting rooms. According to the latest studies, this smell increases concentration!
  4. Play with the illusion. Good cleaning is not always synonymous with a clean and fresh scent. A lemon scent or a fresh cotton fragrance is more effective.
  5. Think about the pleasure of your guests. Neutralise bad smells where necessary. And promote pleasant fragrances in your hotel’s restaurant (making the stay more pleasant and increasing sales), in the spa or in the lobby.
  6. Create tranquillity in your hotel rooms. Use a pleasant, soft lavender fragrance in the rooms to promote calmness among your guests.

By following these tips, you will ensure that your hotel guests have a wonderful stay.

An air purifier, how healthy is it?

We care about clean air

solutions for indoor air quality

Quick to: advice and product

An air purifier, how healthy is it?

Whether an air purifier is healthy is a frequently asked question. On the one hand, you hear stories about the harmful effects of air pollution. People say air purifiers help against this. On the other hand, you hear bad things about the effects of ionisation, ozone and dirty filters. Some even go so far as to claim that an air purifier is unhealthy. What should you believe? Here we explain how healthy an air purifier is. But also what the risks are and what you should pay attention to.

What is an air purifier good for?

The biggest health benefit that an air purifier brings is, of course, the removal of air pollution. Air pollution, especially by fine dust, is a big problem in the Netherlands. Fine dust is a collective term for all kinds of different particles smaller than 10 micrometres. Soot, Sahara sand or even microplastics are examples of these. The smaller these particles are, the further they enter our bodies when we inhale them and the greater the damage to our health. This is because the lungs do not filter the very smallest particles and, as a result, they can directly enter your bloodstream.

The RIVM estimates that people in the Netherlands live on average 13 months shorter thanks to particulate matter. So an air purifier is definitely useful! Yet sometimes you hear that an air purifier is unhealthy. This would mainly have to do with ozone and polluted filters.

Air purifier with ionisation, healthy or not?

Many air purifiers have the option of adding an ioniser. An ioniser creates negatively charged ions by means of electricity. These ions easily bind to other particles in the air. This way you can easily destroy viruses and other organic material and your air cleaner will keep you healthy. An air purifier with ionisation also works better against fine dust. Ionisation causes particles to clump together in the air. This creates larger particles that sink to the ground due to gravity and thus disappear from the air circulation. Unfortunately, after some time, these particles re-enter the air. Another disadvantage of this method is that the ions also react with oxygen, creating ozone.

Healthy air purifier with ionisation

Are ozone emissions from an air purifier unhealthy?

Ozone is a gas with three oxygen atoms that easily reacts with other particles. This is why it can be dangerous. It is created when an oxygen molecule binds an extra oxygen atom. Ions eventually form loose oxygen atoms through various reactions, and thus also ozone. When we breathe in ozone, it reacts with our body cells and irritates them. That is why ozone is known as a toxic gas. Long-term exposure to too much ozone causes a variety of health problems. This is why you sometimes hear that an air purifier can be unhealthy. A carbon filter removes ozone from the air. The ozone binds to the carbon and leaves normal oxygen behind. However, it is important to replace this filter regularly.

What are the consequences of ozone?

Ozone has many negative health effects, such as:

  • Irritation of the airways
  • More asthma
  • Reduced lung capacity
  • Chest pain and increased coughing
  • Greater chance of inflammation in the airways

Research shows that negative ions do indeed purify the air. Unfortunately, the negative effects of ozone are also significant. It also appears that prolonged exposure to ozone has more risks than short term exposure to a high concentration. Whether an air cleaner is healthy therefore depends on how many ions it introduces into the air circulation.

Can ionisation before the filter make the air cleaner healthy?

You must therefore consider the ozone production of an ioniser. An important difference is whether the ioniser is located before or after the filter. If the ioniser is located after the filter, the ions end up in the air and eventually react with oxygen to form ozone. However, if the ioniser is in front of the filter, the ions only react with the particles that are blown towards the filter. Thanks to the electrical charge of the filter, it absorbs all ions. The ionisation process thus remains limited inside the air purifier. Because of this, ultimately no negative ions enter the air you breathe and no ozone forms. A healthy air purifier therefore has ionisation before the filter and not after.

Which air purifier is healthy?

A good example of an air purifier with ionisation before the filter is the EA30. Thanks to its combination of a fine mesh Hepa filter and effective ionisation, this device removes no less than 99.98% of pollution from the air. Thanks to the ionisation, fine dust particles are electrically charged when they reach the filter. As a result, the filter catches them better and there is less pressure loss. Noise and energy consumption remain limited. So this is an excellent choice for most living rooms and bedrooms.

healthy air purifier

Filter full, health risk?

There are people who claim that your air purifier sends unhealthy particles into the air when the filter is full. And these people are right! However, these are the same particles that would be in the air if you hadn’t had an air purifier in the first place. If you seldom change your filter, it gets clogged up with all the particles it picks up. This causes it to lose some of its effectiveness and the situation slowly returns to the way it was without an air cleaner. So a dirty filter can never make your air worse than it was originally. This problem is also easy to prevent by changing the filters regularly.

Healthy air purifier, when is it good and when is it not?

An air purifier delivers many health benefits. By removing fine dust, air purifiers make you a lot healthier. However, you must be careful of too much ozone. Ozone affects your lungs and causes a lot of health problems. So make sure you buy an air purifier with ionisation before the filter. Dirty filters never cause health damage, but by replacing the filters regularly you maintain their effectiveness.

Professional scent diffuser | What can it do?

We care about clean air

solutions for indoor air quality

Quick to: advice and product

A professional scent diffuser, what is it and what can it do?

We all smell, 24 hours a day. Scenting directly determines our image of the environment. Because certain smells evoke strong memories of the past. That is why scent marketing has been on the rise for years. But how does a professional scent diffuser work? And for which purposes do you use scent marketing? In this blog, we will provide you with all the facts about professional scent diffusers and essential oils.

Professional diffusers, why is it useful? Smell is perhaps our most underestimated sense. We are all very aware of what we see and what we hear, but what we smell seems to pass us by. Yet nothing could be further from the truth! Smells have a huge influence on how we feel, how we behave and what we think of other people (source). Some people experience this even more strongly than others. Also to achieve professional goals, people increasingly use scent marketing. For instance with a scent diffuser.

Scent marketing with professional scent diffuser

Our brain and scent, what about it?

Our brain processes odours and emotions right next to each other. Therefore, smells have a stronger emotional response than, for example, sounds or images. A scent diffuser takes this into account. Because people remember memories better when emotions are linked to them, scent also plays an important role here. Many people are not aware of the effects that different aromas have on our lives. But when we lose our sense of smell, as many of us unfortunately have experienced through corona, we notice how important it is. Can these effects be applied in a professional way with a scent diffuser?

What does a professional scent diffuser mean for me?

Yes you can! Many organisations are already using professional scent diffusers to achieve their goals. For example a hotel lobby where the smell of fresh linen makes guests feel at home, but there are many more goals possible with scent marketing. It has been shown many times that the right aromas strengthen the buying incentive in shops. Also, people remember your brand a lot better when it has a distinctive smell. These effects do not even have to be consciously noticed by people. Research has shown that people trust each other more when the smell of freshly ground grass is in the air, even when people do not consciously notice it! So a professional scent diffuser is very versatile:

  • Increase the sales incentive in your shop
  • Make people relax even more in your massage parlour
  • Stimulate the productivity of employees with stimulating fragrances
  • Eliminate bad smells in your nursing home with scent neutralization
  • Don’t be forgotten thanks to a recognizable scent

A scent diffuser in a professional environment. Is it useful?

That odours have a real effect on people should be clear by now. But that these effects are very large is increasingly shown by scientific research. Many studies have been done to measure these effects. It appears that customers stay 27% longer in a shop if there is a strong, pleasant fragrance. The number of impulse purchases also increases significantly. In a supermarket, for example, a strong, pleasant fragrance increases this number by as much as 43%! People’s willingness to buy increases even if it smells good in a room. For an unknown product, people are sometimes even prepared to pay 40% more. A professional scent machine works wonders!

Smartscent, an ideal professional scent diffuser

Professional scent diffuser in the care sector

A fine aroma does not only have commercial advantages. A scent diffuser also contributes to a pleasant environment. In healthcare, a fine aroma is of great importance to residents, visitors and employees. The smell of wounds, faeces or incontinence is very unpleasant. For residents, this reduces the pleasure of living and even the quality of sleep. Care workers who have to work in a foul odour every day have less job satisfaction and this even leads to a higher outflow. A professional scent diffuser can be an important part of the solution.

Essential oil, necessary for a professional scent diffuser?

Most scent diffusers work on the basis of a fragrance oil, also called essential oil. Although this liquid is called an oil, there are no fats in it. It is a liquid composed of many different scents. Because there are thousands of fragrances, each essential oil is personally composed by a professional. This way, our diffusers provide the best possible experience!

How does a scent diffuser work?

Different aromas have great effects on people. There are many ways to spread the desired fragrance in a room. Candles, scented sticks or sprays can all be used, but the best method is with a scent diffuser. A professional scent diffuser works with the so-called cold mist technique. Here, the liquid un-vaporised fragrance oil is dispersed into the air, creating a cold mist. This mist spreads evenly through the room and does not sink to the floor. The fragrance therefore lingers longer and the oil lasts longer!

A good example of a professional scent diffuser is the Smartscent. This device is easy to operate. Its strong fragrance oil and effective design make it an excellent choice for improving business results with scent marketing.

An air purifier for Asthma? How effective is it?

Around 334 million children worldwide suffer from asthma, making it the most common chronic disease. Are there benefits of using an air purifier for asthma? It is crucial an effective treatment and management of asthma to save lives. So, can an air purifier ease asthma symptoms?  Can an air purifier even prevent it? And which air purifier is the best for asthma? Read about our advice for choosing the most adequate air purifier for your needs.

asthma airpurifier

As defined by the Mayo Clinic, asthma is a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus. This results in a breathing difficulty and coughing, a whistling sound when you breathe out and shortness of breath. It is one of the most common chronic illnesses in the world, with over 300 million people worldwide affected by it. The Netherlands, for instance, is the country with the highest concentration of asthmatic children in the world.

What factors cause asthma?

There are many factors that can cause asthma, but they boil down to either a genetic predisposition or to the home or work environment; these include:

  • allergens present inside the home (dust mites, moulds, dander) or in the workplace
  • outdoor allergens (pollens and moulds)
  • respiratory infections
  • respiratory irritants (tobacco smoke, air pollution, irritants in the workplace)
  • cold air
  • physical exercise
  • certain medications (anti-inflammatory drugs)

Can an air purifier alleviate or prevent asthma?

To improve their health, asthmatics must consult their doctor to be prescribed a basic treatment (cortisone, Ventolin). However, there are additional strategies that one can take to alleviate the symptoms at home and the workplace, being the use of an air purifier the most important one.

Permanent use of an air filter in the bedroom that traps fine dust particles with diameters smaller than 2.5 micrometres can not only significantly improve breathing in children with asthma but prevent its onset, according to a new study by US and Chinese scientists.

Asthma in the workplace – what causes it?

There are two types of work-related asthma. There is occupational asthma, which is asthma induced by substances present in a particular work environment. And work-aggravated asthma, which is pre-existing or recently developed asthma whose manifestations are worsened.

Childhood asthma in the Netherlands

In the case of children, it can be diagnosed from the age of 3 or 4 years, when the development of the pulmonary alveoli is fixed. According to a study published in the Lancet, one in every five children in the Netherlands suffers from pollution-induced asthma. That’s about 100,000 children up to the age of 14 total in the country, and the numbers are worsening due to pollution from the transport sector.

Protect your practice room against viruses with an air purifier

We care about clean air

solutions for indoor air quality

Quick to: advice and product

Protect your practice space against viruses? Choose a good air purifier

An air purifier for a practice room removes viruses (such as corona), bacteria and fine dust. It also ensures that you can breathe carefree in the cleanest indoor air.

Practice areas are vulnerable to viruses, bacteria and other air pollution for a variety of reasons. Therefore, it’s important to optimise the air quality within your dental practice, doctor’s practice, physiotherapy practice or massage practice. Choose for good air hygiene with air purification within your practice and enjoy the benefits.

Unhealthy air in your practice

As a dentist, physiotherapist or masseur, you know better than anyone how important hygiene is. Equally important, and sometimes forgotten, is air quality. Because unhealthy air can cause many problems. For example, the air in a dental office is polluted with chemical disinfectants and the air in a massage parlor is vulnerable to viruses, bacteria and foul odors. Fortunately, you can fight viruses and other air pollution with an air purifier in your practice.

Air purifier for a practice room: what are the conditions?

A good air purifier in your dental or doctor’s office should have a built-in HEPA filter. This type of filter removes fine dust particles, viruses and bacteria with an effectiveness of 99.99%. An additional weapon in the fight against virusses is ionisation before the filter. This actually makes viruses, which are caught in the filter, harmless.

So make sure you invest in an air purifier for your practice room with a HEPA filter that will use ionisation before the filter. Some air purifiers use ionisation after the filter. However, this only has a limited effect.

Go for excellent air circulation

A normal ventilation system usually extracts at fixed points and does not circulate the air. In addition, they bring in air pollution from outside. This results in unhealthy indoor air.

Good air purifiers have air displacement technology. This technique ensures optimal air circulation and virus-free air in the breathing zone, because it effectively captures air pollution. This is why air displacement air purifiers are an excellent addition to existing ventilation systems.

Which air purifier is best for your practice?

The EA30 is an excellent air purifier for in your practice room. It contains an AIH filter (a refined version of HEPA) with ionisation function before the filter. This means that it’is able to effectively deal with viruses, bacteria and fine dust particles. As an additional advantage, the EA30 is low-noise, energy-efficient and can optionally be mounted on a wall. Finally, the EA30 has excellent air circulation to ensure that the entire room air is effectively cleaned.

Remove wood stove fine dust from the air with an air purifier

    We care about clean air

    solutions for indoor air quality

    Quick to: advice and product

Remove wood stove fine dust from the air with an air purifier

Wood stoves and fireplaces provide a lot of fun in the cold months. And if we effectively capture the harmful fine dust with an air purifier, we also keep it healthy. Nothing beats a night on the couch with a warm crackling fire in the background. With an air purifier against wood stove fine dust in the house, healthy indoor air is guaranteed and you can breathe safely.

What does a wood stove air purifier do?

Good air purifiers are specialised in extracting and removing fine dust from wood smoke in the air. The condition is that they must have a HEPA filter. This filter is able to remove the smallest particles in the air, including fine dust from wood smoke, with an effectiveness of 99.99%.

    How harmful is fine dust?

Smoke from wood combustion releases harmful substances, including wood stove fine dust. This is a collection of large and small dust particles, with the smallest particles being the most harmful. And now, fine dust from wood stoves consists mainly of the smallest particles: ultra-fine particles (smaller than PM1).

Long-term exposure to pollution from wood stoves is harmful to health. There are some potential complaints due to pollution:

    • Stress
    • Nausea
    • Irritation of eyes and throat
    • Respiratory complaints
    • Heart and vascular disease

A wood stove pollutes more than six trucks

British research shows that a wood stove produces six times (!) as much fine dust as a truck. Researcher Dr. Gary Fuller states that “smoke is an invisible killer. And because smoke from wood stoves is barely visible, hardly anyone complains about it. ” (source) In our opinion this is a good indication of how polluting wood stoves are and how great the need is to protect yourself from air pollution.

You don’t even need to have a wood stove to be exposed to wood smoke. For example, your neighbours may start heating. Fine dust then easily penetrates, even when you close all your windows and doors.

Do you want to measure the fine dust emissions from your wood stove in your home? That’s possible with a/our fine dust meter.

    Wood stove fine dust filter

When you place a wood stove fine dust filter in your flue, it’s only intended to keep the outside air free of fine dust. However, you also have to think about your indoor air. A fine dust filter does not protect your indoor air against harmful particles, a wood stove air purifier does.

The best wood stove air purifier

The EA30 is an excellent wood stove air purifier for living rooms. They are able to combat and remove wood stove fine dust. The highly effective Active-Ion-HEPA filter removes all pollution from the air, so you can breathe again without having to worry. The EA30 further excels in its quiet operation, energy efficiency and reliability. In short: the EA30 is the best choice for tackling fine dust problems at home.

Air purifier for a large room | An effective system against viruses

      We care about clean air

      solutions for indoor air quality

      Quick to: advice and product

Air purifier for a large space, which one do you choose?

Unhealthy air in large spaces is often caused by a polluted ventilation system. With an air purifier for a large space (such as a gym, catering/hospitality facility, factory, warehouse, hall), your indoor air will stay clean and healthy. Preferably, you buy one with the best air circulation. An UV-C filter is also very important, because it makes viruses, such as the flu, harmless in the indoor air. You can read all about which professional air purifier we recommend you to get here.

      Poor ventilation makes you sick

Did you know that 70% of the installations in Dutch buildings do not function properly? Air treatment is often neglected. A pity, because in such cases the indoor air hardly circulates. This considerably increases the chance of viruses and bacteria spreading.

It is stated that 20% of all absenteeism complaints (colds, flu, etc.) are due to an unhealthy indoor climate (source). Poor ventilation and circulation therefore makes you ill.

Keep your air clean with an air purifier

Keep the air in your large room in top condition with the best professional air purifier against viruses. Air purifiers remove air pollution with the help of a filter. After filtering, an air purifier brings the clean air back into the room. Some of the large room air purifiers can make viruses harmless, provided that they use ionisation or a UV-C filter.

What is the best professional air purifier for a large space?

The EAS1300 UV-C is specially made to keep the indoor climate healthy in large spaces. For that reason it uses a UV-C filter and a very effective HEPA filter. The UV-C filter makes microorganisms (viruses, fungi and bacteria) harmless before they enter the HEPA filter. In the HEPA filter, the already deactivated micro-organisms are permanently removed from the air. That is why the EAS1300 UV-C is an excellent choice to keep your air professionally free of viruses and fine dust.

The EAS1300 UV-C is excellent for large spaces. It has a very high air capacity, what means that it cleans a large amount of air in the shortest possible time. Every hour at maximum speed, the EAS1300 UV-C cleans around 1300 m³ of air. For that reason, the EAS1300 UV-C is an air purifier with a high capacity and therefore very suitable for warehouses, big halls and factories.

An ioniser for fighting viruses in the air

        We care about clean air

        solutions for indoor air quality

        Quick to: advice and product

Fight against the viruses with ionisation air purifiers

An ioniser makes virus particles in your air harmless. The effect of ionisation against viruses has been demonstrated in 2015 by the Swedish Karolinka Institute. Due to the recent corona crisis, people are increasingly buying air purifiers with ionisation. Professional rooms in particular keep the air virus-free with an air purifier with ionizer. Think of a fitness center, yoga studio, pilates studio, practice space, school or office.

What does an ioniser do to viruses

An ioniser is an air purifier with an ionisation module. Ionisation is an air cleaning technique in which negative ions are brought into the air by an electrical charge. These ions attach themselves to pollutants such as fine dust, pollen, bacteria and viruses. As a result, these pollutants, including viruses, are deactivated and made harmless. In short, an air purifier with ioniser is an excellent device for removing pollution from the air and for deactivating viruses.

        The best ioniser against viruses

The EA90 works with ionisation before the filter. Bacteria and viruses are collected in the filter and made harmless. The EA90 also has an AIH filter. This is a refinement of the widely used HEPA filter and very effective against viruses, bacteria, pollen, fine dust and more.

Furthermore, the EA90 is energy efficient and due to its high capacity a real powerhouse. It is also ideal for use in large professional spaces. Such as offices, meeting rooms, apartments, medical practices, yoga practices and copy rooms.

Read more about the virus ioniser EA90

        Optimal air circulation

The ventilation in professional buildings (fitness centers, schools, offices, etc.) is often insufficient. Experts believe that poor ventilation increases the risk of infection. That is why it is advisable to ventilate your room well and not give viruses a chance.

A good air purifier with ionisation for a yoga studio, for instance, such as the EA90, is designed to keep the air circulation optimal. This means that the EA90 efficiently transports all air pollution to the filter and collects it there.

        Difference positive and negative ions

An ion is a positively or negatively charged atom or molecule. Positive ions have a degrading effect on your living environment. These are, for example, viruses, bacteria and synthetic fibers from clothing. Negative ions, on the other hand, are seen as vitamins in the air because they are vitalising the air. You will find them mainly in natural areas such as a beach or a forest. An anti-virus ioniser releases negative ions into the air with the intention of keeping your air virus-free.

Fighting pet allergies with an air purifier

          We care about clean air

          solutions for indoor air quality

          Quick to: advice and product

Suffer from pet allergies? Choose a high-quality air purifier

We spend a lot of time with our pets. Cozy, but people with a pet allergy often suffer from unpleasant symptoms. That’s why more and more households choose an air purifier for pet allergies to instantly improve indoor air quality. And it makes sense: dog hair, cat hair and bird dander cause major discomfort and linger in the air for a long time.

          Pet allergy complaints

An allergy to your pet causes annoying symptoms / complaints. The most common health complaints are:

          • Itchy nose
          • Itchy or stinging eyes
          • Runny or stuffy nose
          • Sneezing
          • Distress/ Shortness of breath
          • Headache

An allergy to pets can give you complaints all year round (source). Do you also experience complaints yourself? Naturally, you want to get rid of it as soon as possible. With a good air purifier against dog allergy, cat allergy, bird allergy or any other pet allergy, you can!

purificateur d'air pour allergie aux animaux domestiques

Why use an air purifier for pet allergies?

Fighting unpleasant odours and reducing allergic reactions – these are the two main reasons to buy a pet allergy air purifier. Dog owners in particular struggle with bad smells at home. Everyone knows dogs give off a strong odour, especially when wet from rain. Fortunately, a good air purifier for pets removes these unwanted smells from your living space. Most pet allergens from dogs, cats, canaries, parrots and other animals are found in skin flakes and feathers, but also in saliva and urine. These allergens can trigger strong symptoms in sensitive people.

How does an air purifier help against pet allergies?

An air purifier removes pollution from the air. This includes dust from dogs, cats and birds that can irritate the respiratory tract. Pet allergy air purifiers are effective because they work with an air cleaning filter. We recommend a HEPA filter or AIH filter. They are extremely effective in removing pet allergens. For example, a HEPA filter has an air cleaning efficiency of 99.99%.

In short: using an air purifier against cat allergies, dog allergies and other pet allergies removes allergens from the air. This greatly reduces your allergy complaints. Some air purifiers can also remove unpleasant odors from the air.

How to choose the right air purifier for pet allergies?

Not every air purifier tackles pet allergens equally well. When choosing, pay attention to these key points:
          1. Choose the right filter type

          • HEPA filter: captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, such as dander, hair and pollen. Perfect for people with strong allergies.
          • AIH filter: combines active ionisation with HEPA technology for even better results. Removes ultrafine particles and bacteria.

          2. Check the CADR value
The Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) shows how much clean air the purifier delivers per hour. The higher the CADR, the faster and more effectively it removes allergens. Always choose a model with a CADR suitable for your room size.

          3. Noise level and energy consumption
For use in living rooms or bedrooms, quiet and energy-efficient models are ideal. This way the air purifier can run at night without disturbing you or consuming too much power.

          4. Activated carbon filter for odours
Suffering from dog or cat smells? An activated carbon filter removes unpleasant odours, making your home not only healthier but also fresher.

The best HEPA air purifier against pet allergy complaints

The EA30 air purifier is an excellent choice for people looking to tackle their cat, dog or other pet allergies. Using the Active-Ion-HEPA filter, it removes 99.98% pet allergens from the air. Do you want to get rid of bad (dog) smells? The optional Active Carbon Filter can be ordered to remove all stale animal odors from the air. The additional advantages of the EA30 are that it’s very quiet, low maintenance and has an energy-efficient operation. Finally, the EA30 is also suitable for combating bacteria, viruses and fine dust.

Alternative and complementary solutions for pet allergies

An air purifier for pet allergies greatly improves indoor air quality, but combine it with additional measures for the best results. This way you tackle allergens at the source and reduce symptoms even further.
          1. Vacuum with a HEPA vacuum cleaner
Choose a vacuum with a HEPA filter. It doesn’t just remove visible dirt, but also microscopic dander and hair hidden in carpets, cushions and rugs.

          2. Brush and wash pets regularly
By brushing dogs and cats outdoors, you remove loose hair and dander before they spread indoors. Occasional mild washing can also help reduce allergens – always consult your vet about the right frequency.

          3. Ventilate your home properly
Bring in fresh air by airing out your home regularly. Open windows and doors when possible and combine this with an air purifier for an optimal indoor climate.

          4. Allergy-friendly materials at home
Opt for smooth floors like wood or laminate instead of carpets. Use curtains and furniture that are easy to clean. The less dust and textiles, the fewer allergens accumulate.
